CALL FOR PAPERS

The 2nd International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence throughout the Human-Centered Design Process (AI-HCD 2027) provides a unique platform for researchers, practitioners, and innovators from Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience (UX), Human-Centered Design (HCD), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to exchange ideas and advance the integration of AI into human-centered design practices.

We invite original contributions that explore how AI can support, augment, or transform design practices across all phases of the HCD lifecycle—from requirements analysis and ideation to prototyping, evaluation, and deployment.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• AI-assisted creativity and ideation
• Automated prototyping and design generation
• AI-supported user research and UX evaluation
• Ethical, social, and methodological implications of AI in design
• Trust, transparency, and user perception of AI-driven systems

Accepted papers will be peer-reviewed and published in the German Informatics Society (GI) Library with a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring academic visibility and citation.

Key Questions:

• Where in the Human-Centered Design process is AI most impactful?
• How can AI enhance creativity without diminishing human agency?
• What are the limitations and risks of AI-supported design?
• How does AI influence usability and UX perceptions?
• What ethical frameworks are needed for AI in interactive systems?

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, previously unpublished work, not currently under review by another conference, workshop, symposium, or journal. AI-HCD implements a double-blind review process. Submitted prototypes and demos are exempted from the requirement of anonymization. Papers must be registered on EasyChair and submitted in PDF format.

• Full Regular papers (maximum 10 pages plus references, in double-column ACM format, \documentclass[sigconf,nonacm]{acmart})
  • should present novel perspectives within the general scope of the symposium.
• Short papers (maximum 6 pages plus references, in double-column ACM format, \documentclass[sigconf,nonacm]{acmart})
  • are an opportunity to present preliminary or interim results on hot topics.
• Work-in-Progress and Demo Papers (maximum 4 pages plus references, in double-column ACM format, \documentclass[sigconf,nonacm]{acmart})
  • should present ongoing work, including current viewpoints, discoveries, and early-stage designs and developments in an informal setting, which can be discussed together in the symposium.

All papers are published in the library of the German Informatics Society (GI) with an unique DOI. All published papers must include title, complete contact information for all authors, abstract, and keywords on the cover page.
