The GI workshop VR/AR is one of the largest scientific events in the German-speaking world on virtual/augmented/extended reality, attracting around 100 visitors. It provides a forum for researchers, practitioners, artists, and industry partners to present and discuss current work in Virtual and Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, and 3D User Interfaces. In 2026 the workshop will take place for the 23rd time. We are happy to welcome all of you at Hochschule RheinMain in Wiesbaden on the 23. and 24. of September.
Contributions are invited in any area of Virtual and Augmented Reality. This includes in particular, but is not limited to:
- 3D input devices and interaction techniques
- Avatars and agents
- Display technologies and tracking
- (Real-time) rendering
- Education and edu-/infotainment
- Entertainment and experiences
- Society and socio-technical aspects
- Human factors
- Industrial application scenarios
- Innovative and artistic applications
- Modelling and simulation
- Multimodal interaction
- System architectures and intelligent environments
- Distributed and cooperative VR/AR environments
- VR/AR on the Web
- VR/AR and games
- VR/AR and art
We explicitly encourage graduates (Bachelor’s and Master’s) to submit work based on their theses in the topic area of VR/AR. Scientific contributions are invited in the following categories (page limits including references):
- Long papers: 6–8 pages 9-12 (single column, LNI)
- Short papers: 4–6 pages 6-8 (single column, LNI)
Papers should preferably be written in English. Submissions must be anonymous and follow a double-blind review process. Please use the LNI template: https://gi.de/service/publikationen/lni
- The program committee will decide on acceptance and presentation (double-blind review).
- Accepted papers will be published in the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI DL) as Lecture Notes in Informatics and in the GI digital library
Accepted papers will be presented orally at the workshop. Details on presentation format and timing will be communicated with the acceptance notification.
